App-diction? I Can't Get Enough
"Hello. My name is Rick and I am addicted to iPhone apps." Seriously, I have too many and continue to download more. I take comfort in the fact that I am not alone. A recent Fast Company article, "Infographic: App-etite for Consumption", shared some very interesting data. The total number of apps sold in 2009 was 2.5 million. The outlook for 2010 is 4.5 million and for 2013 it is 21.6 million. Smartphone sales are driving this growth with 176 million sold in 2009, and an estimated 223 million in 2010. That is to be followed by 1.5 billion (yes, BILLION) in 2013. The average is between 14 and 20 apps per smartphone, peaking in 2010 to 20.1. The Wall Street Journal reports that Google plans to launch an app store for selling 3rd party 'business solutions'. This is not about to slow down.
Applications really make iPhones 'smart'. There are apps on my iPhone that have improved my productivity. Of course, there are apps that are just 'fun', and even some that are not well done and have cost me more time than money. In the near future I will post some of the apps that I have found valuable. I certainly would like to hear about the ones that you find of value. One more item for my to do list. (I use ToDo by www.appigo.com. I recommend it, and I am not paid for that recommendation).
