Change … Take a leap!
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” ~ Mark Twain This has been a year of major change for me. I served for 6 years on the Troy United Way Board, ending my term as 2013 began. That was a great experience! In February, I completed 5+ years of service as the Bishop of our ward. That was also an amazing learning experience. In June, wanting to stay engaged and give back to the community, I accepted a seat on a different non profit board. About 2 weeks ago, I resigned from my position at ITW. I accepted a position at Henny Penny Corporation, an amazing company that I have always respected. This was my 1st week at Henny Penny .. a great week, and I am very excited!
For most, change creates a great deal of fear and angst. While it makes me uneasy, I find change exciting and reinvigorating. I believe Mark Twain had it right: Catch the headwinds to Explore. Dream. Discover.
I cant wait to see what the last 5 months of the 2013 bring ... I suggest not fearing change. Embrace it! Growth comes from those leaps in the dark ... from failure and success.
All growth is a leap in the dark, a spontaneous, unpremeditated act without benefit of experience. ~ Henry Miller
