Technology at the Movies: Avatar

Have you seen "Avatar"? I saw it on New Years Eve. What an amazing movie. I was so impressed by the quality of the special effects, especially the 3D. There were several points where I wanted to reach out and touch objects.  I have read that James Cameron has been working on the film since 1994, but had to wait for the technology to catch up before he could put it together.  In fact, he had to wait for a new 'kind of camera'.
