Legs 3/26/2025
Leg day was intense. Since this was the 4th day of the new split and this new approach to my lifts, here are a few observations (so far):
- I am still adjusting to not having a detailed workout plan. No tracking weights still feels awkward. I am enjoying the mental freedom and freshness that comes with that, but picking the exercises and weights is a different experince.
- I certainly find these workouts generate more localized fatigue. Today for example: My legs are shot. They feel like mush. I an not getting a lot of DOMs, but there is some. I even find I am getting a pump .. without carbs.
- The workotus are shorter / faster for the most part. Leg day was not much shoter, but the other workouts are done with in about 40 minutes max.
- I am adjusting when I do my HIIT workotus. I will not be doing that on leg day .. it was not easy on these beat up legs.
- I am still woriking to improve the mind-muscle connection. It is better, but still not where I think I can take it. I will be increasing my efforts in the next go around of this split.
- Small changes to the split:
- Chest / Shouilders / Abs
- Back / Calfs
- Arms / Abs
- Legs / Calf
I will do my HIIT on the Chest and Arm days. - The volume feels about right (in sets per week per bodypart).
- I am not sure when I will deadlift .. but want to include it.
Today was a great workout. I am anxious to see how my legs feel tomorrow. Will I experience any DOMS? I don't expect it, but we will see.
Here is todays workout, sans reps and weights.
- Seated leg curls .. strict for the squieeze. 4 sets to failure + forced reps.
- Seated leg curls .. not strict! 2 sets to failure + forced reps.
- Leg Extensions: 2 sets to failure + forced reps
- True Leg Press 4 sets to failure (trying to get to failure but didn't really fail).
- LP Calves 4 sets to failure + forced reps
That was intense. I am not reaching failure as soon as I expect to. This must improve.
Food intake yesterday:
- Pre-workout I had a servings of yogurt, a scoop of meal replacment mix (HLTH Code). No powdered MCT today.
- Meal 1 was 10 oz of ground beef / bison mix and 4 eggs.
- Meal 2 was 10 oz of ground beef / bison mix and 4 eggs.
- Meal 3 was 10 oz of piedmonteese siloin steak 4 eggs and a square of dark chocolate (100% .. very bitter)
- Two hour before bed I had a serving of yogurt and a scoop of protein.
My weight this morning was 184.8 pounds. My step count yesterday was 13,328.
